From what I've read, the 156 is a more dynamic drive, and is slightly faster, despite the 159's marginal power hike. Personally I quite like the front face of the 159, but either way neither is exactly a minger. Just for reference, these are what the two gorgeous cars look like. It has just had its 90 k service done at a very reasonable cost of $900 ( rear brakes and a few other bits and pieces).The 159 also has a timimg chain no timing belt so lower cost of ownership.

The 147/156's have a terrible rep for front suspension, but it seems the 159s were considerably improved. Some say you should watch out for subframes rusting prematurely on 159s, but it doesn't seem to affect most 159s. That said, like any other car it still pays to make sure everything is sound suspension-wise as it can get expensive. HTH
